Leo Fernandes, a handwriting instructor and calligrapher is a native of Coonoor, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu.

He began his career over 15 years ago having identified the deterioration and the lack of importance given to handwriting due to computerization. For over 15 years, he has been tutoring students of almost all top schools in The Nilgiris. He holds regular classes for members and families of the Defense Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington. He has held televised shows to highlight the importance of a good handwriting. During these shows he interacted and provided tips to those who sought to improve their handwriting. He has also held handwriting workshops for people of all ages in various parts of Tamil Nadu. In addition to meeting various famous personalities across India, Leo has been recognized by Dr.Abdul Kalam, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw and Sachin Tendulkar for his efforts.

Leo is also widely known for his calligraphy skills. His center named “Cal-leo-graphy” educates individuals on different calligraphy techniques. He is the most sought after individual for writing certificates for various competitions held in the district.

Additionally, Leo is the judge of the annual inter-school handwriting competition. The objective of the competition according was to improve the handwriting of the students and ensure that the art of good handwriting was not pushed into oblivion.

Leo undertakes various courses for people of all ages for Handwriting and Calligraphy. These classes are held at locations and timings that are convenient to the attendees. The classes vary in duration (from a single day workshop to short term courses) and have had a favourable response in the past from the participants.
